EU-first at Griffi

We take European sovereignty seriously. But not at the cost of a good product.

We know exactly where the biggest remaining gap lies. The central application database, customer files, encrypted backups and text AI each have a concrete, documented EU data path. We implement practical product measures for AI transparency and human control and continue to track the EU AI Act. For voice, the available EU and open-source solutions do not yet meet our quality bar for real phone calls. We therefore use a frontier model for now and disclose the US transfer clearly — instead of selling a weaker product as sovereign.

Current status

Four functions, four separate answers.

A region used for one part of a product says nothing about every other part. This is the actual path for each function.

EU

Application database

Nuremberg, Germany

The central database for the Griffi application runs in a German data centre.

EU

Files & backups

EU jurisdiction

Customer files and encrypted external backups are configured for EU jurisdiction. The globally distributed network edge must be considered separately.

EU

Text AI

EU region

Text-based AI functions such as summaries, extraction and text drafts are configured for processing in an EU region.

Transparent

AI phone & speech

Not EU-only today

Current speech processing uses a US provider. Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

What EU-first means

A lot is already in place. The biggest gap is clearly in view.

EU paths implemented

The application database, files, backups and text AI already have specifically documented EU data paths; the global edge remains separate.

Responsibility built in

We implement practical measures for AI transparency and human control and continue to track the EU AI Act.

Close the voice gap

We disclose the current US data path, continuously evaluate EU and open-source models and are also developing our own technical path in the background.

This page describes our technical product design. It is neither a blanket compliance promise nor legal advice. Binding details are provided in the privacy policy and DPA.

EU voice hosting · Coming soon

The biggest remaining gap: strong voice quality with an EU data path.

Our next goal is an EU-hosted voice option without a quality trade-off. Today, the frontier path gives us the reliability, voice and pronunciation that real phone calls require. We are not just waiting: we continuously test EU and open-source alternatives and are also working on our own approach in the background. We will send one notification when an EU path is production-ready.

Together with Melious, we are building and testing a European voice path. It will only become a customer option after quality, operations, data residency and contractual foundations have been robustly verified.

The EU voice waitlist itself is not a newsletter subscription. Updates require separate confirmation.
